AIMS was established under the aegis of JMJ Education Society in the year 1994 with a vision to expand the horizons of teaching-learning realms, wherein, the students’ intrapersonal and interpersonal disposition is groomed. It is a great pleasure to state that the AIMS fraternity is enduringly infusing resilient confidence among the students to excel in their academic, professional endeavours and personal lives.
AIMS began its journey in the field of academics in 1994 by offering a Bachelor Degree in Hotel Management and Bachelors Degree in Science with Computer Science as a specialization which are affiliated to BangaloreUniversity. It was a humble beginning of the institute with 60 students. As a testimony to its academic excellence and quality assurance, the number of students greatly increased and the institute added bachelors program in Management (BBM) and Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) in 1997. In 1998, the institute started to offer MBA Programme. It is noteworthy that all the streams got a very optimistic response from various parts of India and the neighbouring countries. In the year 2000 the institute launched Bachelors Programme in Computer Applications (BCA) which again received a tremendous response.
As the institute is a center for the communion of diversities, the institute has been driven to start Masters in Tourism Administration (MTA) so that it can explore new ideas and produce adept professionals in the tourism industry. In order to reinforce its commitment for the social cause, the institute added a feather to its academic crown: Master Programme in Social Work (MSW) in 2004. It is evident that the Department of Social Work is personifying philanthropic ideology of AIMS through its community services. After recognizing the need for experts in the field of trade and commerce, a Bachelor Programme in Commerce (B.Com) sprouted in the year 2006, where from the institute is proud to ascertain that it is contributing a series of committed professionals to the field of trade and commerce.
AIMS launched the five-year MTA Integrated Programme (IMTA) in 2007. Simultaneously, a Master Programme in English Literature (MA) was incepted in 2008 in order to develop literary sensibilities among the students. Besides, this course emphasizes on developing English Language Proficiency. The institute is also innovative in its approach to teaching-learning endeavors. In order to supplement the effective delivery of curriculum, the institute has devised many pedagogical tools that make the academic pursuits invigorating and igniting on AIMS campus. In summation, it is a sincere endeavor of the AIMS’ fraternity to serve for a greater cause of academic excellence and competent professionalism since its inception.
MCA is a three year program and was established in the year 1997 with a sanctioned student intake of 15. The current intake of the program is 60. The program is approved by AICTE and affiliated to BangaloreUniversity.
The educational objectives of the MCA program at AIMS is to enable the students have a holistic and all round grooming to be a thorough professional in the field of IT. The students are trained to have a sound foundation in the fundamentals of computer technology, a high level of practical skill in the use of that technology and at the same time, be sensitive to the issues prevailing in the society. The Alumni of the department are all well placed in top positions of the major IT companies in India and abroad.
The department has well qualified and experienced faculty members to handle the various subjects of the Master’s program. The department is ably headed by Dr. Sudeshna Das Gupta, a Post Doctorate in C.Sc. The department has produced 2 University Ranks and on an average, 90% of the students pass out with Distinction every year.
The vision of imparting excellent higher education is transformed into reality at AIMS by building up a conducive academic atmosphere on its campus. The highlights are :
• AIMS – Department of MCA has signed up with Microsoft under its MSDN Academic Alliance program. With this alliance, the college receives every Microsoft Software product for use by the students. The students are encouraged to carry out their academic projects using these tools.
• AIMS has an MOU with SAPEducationUniversity, a partner of SAP India Pvt. Ltd to provide SAP training course to the students by establishing an e-learning center for them at AIMS, through which the students enhance their career opportunity in the global market of SAP ERP Services.
• AIMS – Department of MCA is an institutional member of the Computer Society of India - CSI. There is also a CSI student chapter of which every faculty and student is a member and through which various events are organized. Every student also receives a CSI Magazine every month as a part of this subscription.
• AIMS – Department of MCA has associations / MOU’s with NGOs like Mitrajyothi and students are involved in developing automation systems for them.
Other Highlights:
The IT inter-collegiate fest – Infinix, organized by the department every year is a high profile event and attracts students from all colleges both from Bangalore and outside.
The IT Club plans and executes a number of activities, both curricular and non-curricular, through which the students learn a number of skills like team interaction, planning and managing events, leadership skills, etc.
Strong Industry Institute interaction in the form of Guest Lectures by top technical and HR personnel, Industrial Visits, Workshops and Seminars
Support to participate in Inter-collegiate Technical and Cultural Activities. Industrial Visits to IT Companies every Semester. 80% of the students pass out with Distinction and the remaining with high First Class.

Duration:- The course of study is for 6 Semesters. Each semester from 1 to 5 spanning for four months and the 6th semester for over a period of 6 months.
AIMSCenter for Training and Development (ACTD) enables the students of AIMS to bridge the gap between the Academia and Corporate world. Feedback from industry is collected and the feed back used to design Pre-Placement Training Programs.This important activity is vital to enable the students to achieve desired career objectives.
The various components of the Pre-Placement Training Programs include modules on Current Affairs, General Aptitude, Technical Aptitude, Presentation Skills, Group Discussion Skills, Debate Skills, Interviews Skills & Mock Interviews, Industrial Analytics Workshops, etc. Training is also proposed based on the modern techniques of psychometric testing to give scientific career counseling to students to equip them to grab the opportunities available.
Company – Specific Orientation is conducted for students prior to all the placement drives organized by the institution. A special orientation program is also conducted before all the International Tours & Visits organized by AIMS and this has resulted in international placement offers for some of our students.
