DYP-DCCollege has been established as a joint initiative between DY Patil group, a highly regarded educational organization, and car design guru Dilip Chhabria - who has come onboard to serve as chief mentor.
Based in Pune, Maharashtra, India, the college will focus on automotive design, and in time, incorporate automotive engineering and management into a slightly wider curriculum. Notably, students will have the opportunity to build a full scale, working, drivable prototype as part of their final year projects in both the undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs.
Starting August 2010, the college will conduct a three-year, full-time undergraduate program, and a two-year, full time postgraduate program - both in Automotive Design.

Application fee
Every admission form must be accompanied by a demand draft of Rs. 2000 (Rs. Two thousand only) drawn in favour of “DYPDCCenter for Automotive Research and Studies”. This fee is non-refundable.
Completing the application for admission form
The application for admission form is to be filled completely and signed. It should be filled in black ink in legible handwriting. The spelling of your name should be the same as it appears on your official transcripts.
Portfolio
Every application for admission form must be accompanied with a Portfolio.
Your portfolio is your chance to show us all the crazy, fantastic ideas you have; to dig deep into your imagination and produce your best work. It is the prime criteria for admission and should be well developed to increase your chances of getting into one of the best Automobile Design schools i.e. DYPDC Center for Automotive Research and Studies.
A portfolio is a collection of your best designs that demonstrate your interest and aptitude for a serious and dedicated education in automobile design.
What should your portfolio contain?
Your portfolio should show us your ability to think and communicate effectively. Show your interest in products, your analytical capability, creativity, and any skills you have developed. We advise you to show us both the process and the final output. Your portfolio should showcase your best work.
The blank portfolio format can be downloaded from the DYPDC website or can be obtained from the DYPDC office.
The blank format is to be printed on A4 size paper and submissions are to be made only on this printed format.
All the sketches should be handmade works. You can use a pen, pencil, water-colours, and markers etc.
Each sketch should mention the title and idea behind the sketch.
How should you present your portfolio?
Try to keep your portfolios neat and clean.
The portfolio sheets are to be bound together in a suitable manner
You should not roll up the sketches while sending, as it not only damages the images; it also makes the job of our jurors rather difficult, in terms of handling and viewing your work.
Pay particular attention to detail and placement on the page.
How to submit your portfolio?
You can either hand-deliver it or send it to us through courier service or speed-post to DYPDC admission office in a sturdy package. The package size should be as close to the actual size of your portfolio. Please note that Portfolios will not be returned.

Higher Secondary school mark sheet- If you are applying for the postgraduate program, submit attested copy of.
Graduation degree/diploma- If you are appearing for the qualifying exam and the results are awaited, then you can submit the earlier year mark sheets or evidence suggesting that you are appearing for the qualifying examination.
At the application stage, please do not submit any original documents. Submit only photocopies. A responsible official must verify all photocopies as true copies of the original.

Students will have access to one of the world's most advanced Rapid Prototyping systems that will help them convert concepts and ideas into physical plastic and metal prototypes to test for form, fit and function.
The extensive facilities also include well-equipped wood and metal shops. There is provision for anodizing, electroplating, tube notching, and welding (TIG, MIG, and oxy / acetylene). An extensive selection of manual and power tools, including Lathes, mills, drills, shears, presses, pipe bender, blast media cabinet, roll formers, sanders and grinders, will be provided. Facilities for vacuum-thermoforming, mold making and composite lay up, painting and other processes common in the creation of design models and prototypes will also be available.
We have one of the highest computers to student ratios. Facilities will include a combination of high-end PCs with various peripherals such as scanners, plotters and printers, etc. The students will be able to use the most advanced hardware and software tools and technical support for computer visualization, advanced computer graphics and virtual reality. All computing equipments will be linked by high-speed network to facilitate access across the campus.
An impressive library houses an outstanding collection of books, periodicals and visual resources on variety of subjects. The library will have subscription to electronic resources from across the world including networked databases and electronic journals.
