About Institute

In its relatively short history, The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, has established itself as one of the leading business schools in the world. With talented faculty and a renowned research center, the school sits among top-ranked U.S. business schools.

Fuqua enrolled its first class in 1970. Today, the annual enrollment in Fuqua's degree programs is more than 1,300.

Courses Offered

MBA Daytime

2 Years, Full Time, Post Graduate Degree

The Duke MBA–Daytime program combines a foundational core of required courses with generous opportunities for students to pursue their interests and broaden their expertise through electives.

Study is structured around six-week terms rather than quarters or semesters. Each course meets for two hours and fifteen minutes twice per week. Structuring the program in terms allows students to take more courses. Longer class periods give you as much class time per term as other business schools provide during a semester. Longer class periods enable faculty to cover complex topics during a single session and offer ample time for simulations, case presentations, questions, and discussion. They also offer the time for meaningful interaction with visiting members of the business community.

Eligiblity

Past Academic Performance

  • The university admits applicants with a range of GPAs.
  • The university does not favor a particular undergraduate degree, and students come from a wide range of academic backgrounds.
  • Please note that a college-level calculus course with a grade equivalent to a "C" or better is required for matriculation.

Work Experience

  • There is no minimum work experience requirement.
  • The university will consider any post undergraduate work experience presented for admission.
  • You should use the application to articulate the value of your work experience as it relates to contributing to the learning environment, and how the experience has helped you develop leadership and teamwork skills, as well as maturity, on both professional and personal levels.

GMAT

  • The university admits applicants with a range of GMAT scores.
  • There is no minimum requirement.
  • However, if you feel that you have not scored your personal best or that the results are not representative of your ability, you may re-take the exam (before you submit your application).

Recommendations

  • Your letters of recommendation are important because they give the admissions committee valuable, independent information about your capabilities.
  • The most valuable recommendations come from people who know your professional skills and abilities.

Essays

  • Essays are an opportunity to share your perspective directly with the admissions committee.
  • The goal of the essays is to gain a greater understanding of who you are and the contributions you will make at Duke and beyond.

English Language Proficiency Tests

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

  • The space features built-in AV as well as a rear AV booth.

  • Adjacent to the dining room, the Club Room is ideal for informal socializing.
  • It features a flat-screen TV and board games, a variety of snacks, beer, wine and mixed drinks from 5:00 p.m. - midnight.

Merit Scholarships

  • Every admitted applicant will be considered for a merit scholarship and if selected to be a recipient, will receive notification of their award approximately one week after their admission.
  • The criteria for selection include prior academic achievement, demonstrated qualities of leadership, involvement in the community, extracurricular activities, and professional accomplishments.
  • These awards are for the two year duration of the MBA program and range from partial tuition to full tuition. We do not have funding for new awards in the second year.
  • Thus, students who enroll without scholarship funding should not anticipate an award for the second year of the program.
  • A generous scholarship program for minority students is funded by Fuqua and a variety of corporate donors.
  • A complete listing of these scholarships is published in the Fuqua Bulletin. Selection of recipients for these named awards is made during the summer or fall semester.
  • These awards replace, but would not be less than, funds already received.

International Student Loans

  • The student loan program for Fuqua International Students through Coastal Federal Credit Union (Coastal) offers a very competitive rate of prime plus 5% with no fees.
  • With the current prime rate of 3.25%, the rate would be 8.25%.
  • This loan does not require a U.S. co-signer.
