Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Tourism & Leisure)
Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a programme of Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM) approved by AICTE and is equivalent to MBA programme.
This course offers a flexible approach to human resource development in the fast evolving tourism and leisure scenario. Its structure is adaptive and caters to the career goals of students- both the fresh graduates as well as those seeking betterment in the current position. The course contents are a judicious mix of tourism and leisure specific knowledge and skill inputs, being developed in the background of fast evolving tourism scenario. The scope and diversity of tourism and leisure segments is such that the graduates have a variety of employment options and growth avenues.
This PGDM of IITTM shall focus on management of tourism and leisure.
Objectives
The programme of study aims at preparing graduates for taking up employment in a business organisation or self employment and / or carrying forward their family businesses. The objectives of this programme of study are manifold-
- Provide comprehensive perspective on fast evolving leisure and tourism environment
- Develop in-depth knowledge in the leisure, recreation and tourism products/offerings with special focus on adventure tourism
- Objectively understand the complex industrial structure of these segments
- Develop strategic knowledge and skills to manage the burgeoning leisure seekers in general and adventure tourists in particular
- Appreciate importance of team work, leadership qualities, cross-cultural communication
- Inculcate values and principles for ethical and sustainable business practices.
- Equip and enable learners to start a new tourism and travel related business venture
Accordingly, the programme has a large component of working in real world situations under the careful guidance of mentors.
Course Structure
- This is an intensive programme of study of 2 academic sessions.
- The programme shall be divided into four semesters. There are three taught semesters and one semester of on-the-job training. There shall be an examination at the end of each taught semester.
- Each taught semester shall comprise of nine courses, each of three hours per week equivalent teaching obligation and equal amount of self study.
- This programme is a whole time programme of the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management

Admission Procedure
Eligibility
Candidates seeking admission to the PGDM programme shall be required to possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50 % marks in aggregate of a University or equivalent thereto (45 % for SC/ST/PH).
Admission process
Admission to the programme shall be through an admission process of 100 points.
A weight of 70% shall be for the performance in a centralised All India Admission Test.
Another 15% points each are for Personal Interview (PI) and Group Discussion (GD) respectively. Merit for admission to the programme shall be determined by the institute.
Seats and reservation
Admission will be offered on 60 (sixty) seats in each batch.
There will be reservation for SC/ST/PH candidates as per rules of the institute/ Government of India

Placement Cell
Placement activities at IITTM are managed by a Placement Committee along with four student representatives from each programme .The Placement Committee provides overall supervision and directions for summer internship as well as final placement of the students. The Committee consists of one Faculty as Placement Coordinator and a group of faculty members and academic associates chaired by the Director.
To meet the increasing demands of fast emerging business scenarios ,the institute put best of its effort to enhance skills and honing the abilities of the students to the desirable level. Regular Personality Development programmes, workshops and seminars are conducted to prepare the students fully to face the placement process.
Impressive arrays of reputed Companies from all over India come to IITTM each year to recruit students for summer internship and final placements. The placement committee maintains a constructive relationship with potential employers and encourages them to interact with students frequently for a better understanding between the employers and the students.
