Master of Commerce (M.Com.)
Schoolof Management Studies, the biggest business school in Open Learning System in the world, has developed an innovative programme Master of Commerce (M.Com) with specialisation in International Business Operations. The main objective of this programme is to equip the students with necessary conceptual, entrepreneurial and analytical skills required for handling the Business Operations, particularly in International Business. The curriculum focuses on the applied aspects of Business Operations.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
In order to be eligible for the award of the Master of Commerce (M.Com) degree, a student has to complete the following 12 courses equivalent to 72 credits (1 credit is equal to 30 study hours) comprising of six core courses and six specialisation courses in International Business Operations.

To ensure flexibility, modular system is introduced with the following two exit points
:
- Completion of six specialisation courses (IBO – 1 to IBO – 6) qualifies the student for the award of PG Diploma in International Business Operations. This Diploma is a stand alone Diploma and students can also take direct admission. If such students join M.Com. Programme later on, they have to complete the six core courses in order to get the M.Com degree.
- Completion of six core courses and six specialisation courses qualify the students for the award of Master of Commerce with specialisation in International Business Operations.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
Graduates in any discipline or equivalence from a recognised university are eligible for admission to the M.Com. Programme.
The advertisement inviting applications for admission to this programme is published in all leading newspapers in May/June every year. The last date to submit filled application is normally 31st July
Fee for the M.Com. Programme (includes examination fee and registration fee) is Rs.3,700 in the first year and Rs.3,600 in the second year of study.
The programme has been designed for a minimum duration of two years. A student once admitted, his/her registration is valid for five years.Thus, a student can complete this programme within a minimum period of two years or a maximum period of five years. In case of failure to do so, the student will be required to re-register by paying the prescribed programme fee.
This programme is offered in English medium.Printed course materials and assignments are sent to the students in English.Audio lessons and counselling are also provided in English. Students are expected to submit the assignments and attempt the term-end examinations in English medium only. |
