Overview



A Company Secretary is a qualified professional to render services in company law, company secretarial practice, corporate governance, administration, management etc., A qualified Company Secretary in India is required to be Member of the Institute of Company Secretary of India [ICSI] - a statutory professional body. In order to become a Member of ICSI - a person shall pass the examinations conducted by the ICSI and meet the training requirements to chart a course through regulation, legislation & best practice, and to deliver effective operations as a Professional.


C.S is a three year course starting from foundation level.

Foundation


The CS course at the Foundation level (ICSI: Foundation Examination) consists of only theoretical examinations. There are 8 subjects arranged into 5 papers of 100 marks each.

To pass a student has to obtain a minimum of 40% in each paper and an aggregate of 50% in all the papers together, failing which the student has to reappear in all the papers again.

There are certain exemptions in cases where the student has failed the examination but has obtained high marks in one or more papers.

A student has to get through these to be eligible to go for the next level i.e. INTERMEDIATE.

Each paper 3 hours-100 Marks.

    Basic Economics and Business Environment [100 marks]

Part A: Elements of Business Laws (50 Marks)

  • Paper 5: Information Systems and Quantitative Techniques [100 marks]

Part A: Information Systems (50 Marks)

Part B: Quantitative Techniques (50 Marks)



Executive Programme


The CS course at the Intermediate level (ICSI: Intermediate Examination) consists of only theoretical examinations. There are 12 subjects arranged into 2 groups of 4 papers each of 100 marks.

To pass a student has to obtain a minimum of 40% in each paper and an aggregate of 50% in all the papers of a group together, failing which the student has to reappear in all the papers of the group again.

There are certain exemptions in cases where the student has failed the examination but has obtained high marks in one or more papers.

A student has to get through these to be eligible to go for the next level i.e. FINAL

  • Paper 4: Management Information Systems and Corporate Communication
  • Part A: Management Information Systems (50 Marks)
  • Part B: Corporate Communication (50 Marks)

CS Inter - Group II

  • Paper 5: Company law [100 marks]
  • Paper 6: Company Secretarial Practice [100 marks]
  • Paper 7: Economic Labour and Industrial Laws [100 marks]
  • Part A: Economic Laws (75 Marks)
  • Part B: Labour and Industrial Laws (25 Marks)
  • Paper 8: Securities Laws and Regulation of Financial Markets [100 marks]


FINAL:-


Final

[9 subjects arranged into three groups of 3 papers of 100 marks each.]

To Licenciate ICSI
Temporary Status till membership is acquired.
