Raj Senani received B.Sc. from LucknowUniversity, B.Sc. Engg. from Harcourt Butler Technological Institute, Kanpur, M.E. (Honors) from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Allahabad and Ph.D. in Electrical Engg. from the University of Allahabad.
Dr. Senani held the positions of Lecturer (1975-1986) and Reader (1987-1988) at the EE Department of MNNIT, Allahabad. He joined the ECE Department of the Delhi Institute of Technology, Delhi in 1988 as an Assistant Professor. He became a Professor in 1990. Since then, he has served as Head, ECE Department (1990-1993, 1997-1998), Head Applied Sciences (1993-1996), Head, Manufacturing Processes and Automation Engineering (1996-1998), Dean Research (1993-1996), Dean Academic (1996-1997), Dean Administration (1997-1999), Dean Post Graduate Studies (1997-2001), Director, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) during June 1996-September 1996, February 1997-June 1997 and May 2003-January 2004. He is currently functioning as Head, Division of ECE (2000-till date) as well as Director NSIT (23rd October 2008 onwards).
Professor Senani’s teaching and research interests are in the areas of Bipolar and CMOS analog integrated circuits, Current-mode Signal processing, Electronic Instrumentation, Chaotic nonlinear circuits and Translinear circuits. He has authored or co-authored over 100 research papers in various international journals.
The ECE curriculum provides a wide perspective of the field of electronics and allows the student to decide his future directions. As can be expected, student often diverge into related fields such as computer engineering. The ECE branch provides the perfect ground and flexibility for student who wish to go into other streams.
From the very beginning, the ECE division has taken the lead in establishing well- equipped and modern Lab facilities as well as initiating Ph.D programs and Research and Development in the Institute. The ECE division has produced several Ph.D's in the areas of its activities. Regular Masters's program in the specified areas of Signal Processing, Digital Systems and VLSI Design and Communication Systems are planned out of which the first one has already started since August 1999.
Students from the ECE branch often decide to pursue post-graduate studies, showing their ability to continue research in diverse areas. This illustrates the success of the institute in providing a solid base for serious research and development work. Our students are often accepted into the best institute in India such as IIT's and IISc. Bangalore. A number of students also continue post graduate study at the masters and Ph.D levels in reputed universities in the US.
Ever since its inception, the ECE division has followed a curriculum that provides many advantages to the student. The course material is diverse and provides the engineer-to-be with a truly holistic view of life in general and technology in particular. The curriculum for the first year of the course is same for all the branches. The diversity of the curriculum becomes evident after the first year. The course consists of sufficient papers on all major fields of engineering - Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Control engineering. The final two years however, are devoted, almost entirely, to advanced topics in Electronics and Communication Engg., such as Digital Signal Processing, Microwave engineering and Bipolar and MOS Analog IC design. The faculty has diverse interests and this encourages the students to follow any areas of their choice.
Practical Training is a very important component of the curriculum meant for the students. As a part of the curriculum, arrangements are made for the students to undergo practical training during winter and summer vacations in Multinational/Private/Public Sector Undertakings/Government Department and the Laboratories of the Institute. As per the provision, the students belonging to various Divisions-Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering and Manufacturing Processes & Automation Engineering- undergo 4 spells of practical training. Some of the prominent industrial organization in which NSIT Students have completed Internships include Microsoft, Intel, GM, Maruti, Schlumberger etc.
Campus Recruitment Programme conducted by the Institute is a very vital activity for the young engineers aspiring for appropriate placement in Government Departments, Private/Public Sector Undertakings.
A close interaction between the Institute and various company executives has created excellent placement record. The Students Job Co-ordinaters actively participate in organizing Campus Recruitment Programme. By sheer dint of hard work and dedication, the students of this Institute have reachedtop positions in the industries and academia. The Institute has an excellent record of assuring confirmed jobs in prestigious industrial organizations.
On the basis of records available students belonging to the Divisions-Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering and Manufacturing Processes & Automation Engineering-who graduated in current year, almost all the students have secured firm jobs in Multinational companies, Private and Public Sector Undertakings and Government Departments with many students being offered mutiple jobs. Some of them have joined the Indian Institutes of Management and other Prestigious Institute for higher studies. Some students were selected by the top Universities in the USA to pursue higher studies in specialised areas.
So far a high percentage of our eligible students have been offered jobs by reputed firms.
The Institute is giving a great deal of emphasis for strengthening the Industry Institute-interaction as well as interaction with other educational institution and R&D laboratories both at the national and international levels.
