The two-and-a-half year undergraduate Professional Diploma Program in Animation and Visual Effects was introduced in 2008. The program aims at producing students proficient in creative expression by means of both 2D and 3D animation.
The program seeks to foster a forum for creative expression and storytelling, giving students the opportunity to create globally acceptable pieces of work whilst pushing the envelope in terms of technique and technology.
The curriculum focuses on the development of the animator as a thinker-performer who is well-versed in the conception and realization of fresh narratives emerging from the traditional and contemporary Indian and global contexts.
A judicious mix of the arts with skill-based training, life skills and communication practice lend themselves to the development of abilities in real-world problem solving. Industry internships enable the students to get a feel of what industry is doing while at the same time questioning and rethinking some of the approaches and traditions set by both media and the industry itself. The long-term objective is to enable and empower students to generate and evolve a uniquely Indian approach, stories, characters, settings, forms and styles drawing upon India's rich cultural heritage.
