Surabhi Educational Society has been set up to establish, aid and maintain educational and other institutions to impart education in Fine Arts, Pharmacy, Engineering, Medicine, Law, Commerce, Arts, Literature and all other subjects for diffusion of useful knowledge in Andhra Pradesh and anywhere in India. It would encourage Research and Development and conduct seminars on theoretical and practical aspects of a foresaid fields. Mutual exchange programmes between different states and countries in the fields of Creative Arts and Sciences would be conducted. Books, Journals and other literature would be published with a non-profit motive. The promoters of Surabhi Educational Society are convinced that facilities for the study of Fine Arts and the Modern Art of Photography are inadequate in the State. With a view to help the talented youth in pursuing the above mentioned disciplines that "Sri Venkateshwara College of Fine Arts" has been founded in 1991-92.
The Department of Photography offers a 3-year degree programme leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography. The annual intake is 40. The academic programme consists of three years The degree programme in photography offers courses in four areas of inter-related studies such as photography as fine art, professional photography, photo journalism and audio - visual communication.The programme seeks to develop in students technical and aesthetic competence by exposing them to the various aspects of the theory, history and practice of photography through lectures, workshops, seminars and exhibition.The department has three well equipped darkrooms and one studio.
The college has its own hostel building. Accommodation is provided to out-station students. Separate block for girl students.
Library
The college has a well equipped reference library and subscribes to current international and national journals and technical periodicals in the field of Advertising, Arts and Photography. The college seeks institutional membership in other important libraries equipped with books in related areas.
Placement
The college offers an ideal launching pad to pursue advanced studies in related areas, either in India or abroad. These graduates can take up the profession of teaching for which there is lot of demand, either at school level or college level. Students with business acumen can start their own enterprises.
