The management masters programme is designed to make you comfortable with core concepts and theories practiced in safe but real business and management situations.

The MSc starts with the Postgraduate Certificate stage which is also shared across other programmes so that you build a strong support network of global colleagues to learn with. You will concentrate on the broad contextual aspects of management, developing your knowledge and understanding. The main themes here are developing people, organizational dynamics and behaviors, finance and information, marketing and operations, as well personal development skills.

At the Postgraduate Diploma stage the focus is on subject specific knowledge and practical skills. It goes beyond the operational and functional, through the tactical, and towards a more strategic level of understanding in a wider variety of business environments and global contexts. You'll be internationalising your capabilities.

At the MSc Management level you will develop theoretical perspectives in analysis. You'll enhance and practice your intellectual abilities and deepen your understanding and personal skills, with a greater emphasis on independent learning. Activities are centred on real world international cases for market data, analysis and practical and theoretical developments.

Throughout the programme you will develop an Independent Studies dissertation or managerial project. This is a significant piece of work culminating in your resolutions and perspectives to strategic managerial problems. It is the final submission of your programme and your learning.

The programme has been developed with a range of widely respected international companies as well as past students' inputs so that you are able to deliver to what employers are looking for in their managers. Our links with local industries also means that the concepts and theories that you are learning are practically applied to current business situations through case studies, company visits, mini projects and assignments. We've spent over 75 million on facilities in the last few years, to make sure you'll have a great student experience at Derby.

This includes 13.5 million 'green' transformation of our Kedleston Road site. We refurbished the towers between 2008-2010 so they look more contemporary and are three times more energy efficient, reducing our overall carbon footprint.

We’ve also been investing in our library and learning resource facilities. The first phase has seen a 250,000 refurbishment of our learning centre, upgrading the environment, furniture, group study areas and quiet zones.
